Etymology

Literary etymology

The name "kanva" is a play on the English word "canvas".

In-universe etymology

The name "kanva" comes from the Liðakuin word of the same meaning,  känvakur, which is loaned from Classical Nenta qenava, simply meaning "person" or "people".

Characteristics

Kanvas are anthropomorphic furred creatures that tend to be about as tall as a human. Although typically described as feline or felinoid, some kanvas have ears or tails that more closely resemble canine or vulpine ones.
