Etymology[edit | edit source]
Literary etymology[edit | edit source]
The name "kanva" is a play on the English word "canvas".
In-universe etymology[edit | edit source]
The name "kanva" comes from the Liðakuin word of the same meaning, känvakur, which is loaned from Classical Nenta qenava, simply meaning "person" or "people".
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Kanvas are anthropomorphic furred creatures that tend to be about as tall as a human. Although typically described as feline or felinoid, some kanvas have ears or tails that more closely resemble canine or vulpine ones.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- According to Astaryuu, kanvas were originally based upon fursuiters, with Estariel's wider build in particular being a result of the bulkier appearance someone in a suit tends to have.
